Automate your newsletter performance report and read every send against the running average
Mitra builds an agent that reports how your last newsletter did against the running average. Every Wednesday at 10am the agent reads the send from Mailchimp, appends opens, clicks and unsubscribes to your sheet, and posts the comparison to Slack with the subject line that did the work.
Every Wednesday at 10am, take the newsletter Mailchimp sent last week, add its opens, clicks and unsubscribes to my 'Newsletter log' sheet, then post to #marketing in Slack how the send compares to my running average and which subject line performed best.

What the agent actually does.
Read the last send
The agent opens Mailchimp and takes the campaign that went out since the previous run: recipients, opens, clicks, unsubscribes and the subject line.
Append it to the log
One row goes into your 'Newsletter log' sheet, in the columns you already use, so every send this year sits in one place instead of in one dashboard you have to remember to open.
Work out the running average
The agent reads the rows already in the sheet and averages them, so the new send is measured against your own list rather than an industry benchmark.
Post the comparison to Slack
Opens, clicks and unsubscribes go to #marketing, each with a direction against the average, and the subject line printed beside them.
Leave a record
Every number read, the row written and the Slack post are recorded step by step, so you can check where any figure came from.
Make it yours.
For the marketer who sends one newsletter a week and only ever sees the numbers for that send, with nothing beside them to say whether it went well. Change any of this by saying so — there is nothing to rewire.
- Break clicks down by link, so you can see which section of the newsletter pulled.
- Post only when a number moves more than 10% away from the average.
- Email the summary to the founder instead of posting it in Slack.
